Remembrances: The Family of Namy and Julia Joseph
June 21, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Namy and Julia Joseph emigrated from Lebanon and arrived in Wendell in 1918,
where they raised ten children and were part of the small Catholic community
that founded St. Eugene Church. Namy peddled dry goods, first on foot and then
by cart. Eventually, Namy built and ran a small neighborhood store next to the
family home at the corner of Cook St and what is now Wendell Falls Parkway,
and owned a restaurant on Main St.
Namy and Julia’s granddaughter Genevieve will share her memories and stories
from the Joseph family history. She hopes others who knew her grandparents,
aunts and uncles will share their remembrances, too.
Genevieve is the daughter of Charles Joseph, Namy and Julia’s fourth child, and
Genevieve Norman Joseph. As a youth, she enjoyed the long family road trips
from New York to visit relatives in and around Wendell. Her parents retired to
Wendell in 1985. Genevieve followed in 1996 and lived in Wendell until 2000. In
2006 she got married at White Dove Chapel, site of the original church of St.
Eugene, and still enjoys visiting Wendell whenever she can.
