Mrs. Hunter’s Five and Dime: A Collector’s Dream

Oct. 19, 2017

“Mrs.. Hunter’s Five and Dime: A Collector’s Dream” was the topic at the Oct. 19 meeting of the Wendell Historical Society.

Speaker Bob Williams started his collection of antique toys at Ida Hunter’s store, a Wendell Main Street institution for more than 50 years.

Williams, who lives in Raleigh, was introduced by his cousin, Kristy Todd, who also shared her own toy collection from Hunter’s.

Among the approximately 50 people attending was Trish Shaw of Raleigh, the niece of Pauline Wheeler, longtime Hunter’s employee.
